Update!

In 2008, the Foundation experienced a decrease in its assets due to the economic downturn.  In response, we are maintaining our obligations but are not inviting proposals for new projects.

The Foundation maintains a national focus and supports organizations which are national in scope or reach more than one state.  The Foundation has assets of just over $20 million and awards grants totaling approximately $1 million yearly.

We welcome proposals that address our current interests and encourage applicants to review what we fund before submitting a letter of inquiry.

Eligibility:

We fund only organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Service Code and have a current IRS ruling.

Grant Size:

Our grants generally range from $5,000 - $50,000 with most of our grants in the $25 -$35,000 range.

Process:

The application process begins with the submission of a letter of inquiry, accepted on a rolling basis, and the submission of a full proposal upon invitation.  The Board of Directors meets twice a year, in the spring and fall, to award funding.

Deadlines:

Though the Foundation accepts letters of inquiry on a rolling basis, to be considered for funding either in the spring or fall cycles, letters must be received by December 1st and May 1st respectively.  If invited to submit a full proposal, the deadline for the spring cycle is January 15th and June 15th for the fall cycle.
